Look ahead to the next generation of forward-thinking musicians with this virtual showcase featuring DJ sets, artist performances and a livestream Q&A. The night’s eclectic mix of sounds includes the global bass influences of DJ Shivarasa, the ethereal soundscapes of Black Jade, the folk-soul sound of Nora Rothman and the soul-tinged rhythms of Kelleia. Through their art and activism, these artists are proving that the forefront of music will be led by artists who are independent, innovative and inclusive. 

Unspeakable Records

Unspeakable Records is an artist-owned production company that offers services in recording engineering, production, mixing/mastering, sync licensing and artist development. Established in 2014, they originally served as an independent record label for female-identifying artists but later expanded to include innovative musicians of all gender identities, backgrounds, styles and genres.

Using forward-thinking music production techniques, the best in engineering services and educational programs, the company strives to maintain an ethical and supportive community for artists and pave the way to a more inclusive industry.

Unspeakable Records has over 50 releases in their catalogue, been a part of hundreds of live events and mentored thousands of artists through their artist development programs.
 
ABOUT THE ARTISTS 
 
Shivarasa

Sarah Shivarani, known artistically as Shivarasa, is an Iranian-American producer, DJ and sound healer based in Los Angeles. Her music is influenced by global bass, electronic, Middle Eastern music, hip hop and ambient soundscapes. She has played alongside CeeLo Green, Nas and Damien Marley, Cypress Hill, Pusha T, and Snoop Dogg and is the creator of RETURN TO SOUND, a meditative sonic experience that triggers deep relaxation and trance states. 

Black Jade

Black Jade is a Chinese-American music producer, vocalist, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. 

She composes ethereal soundscapes inspired by traditional East Asian music, experimental computer music and contemporary pop, indie, and R&B. In the way that black jade is used in crystal therapy, Black Jade uses her music to inspire more positive states of mind in her listeners. 

Nora Rothman

Nora Rothman is a singer-songwriter and activist passionate about boosting marginalized voices in the music industry. Her folk-soul sound features songwriting inspired by Joni Mitchell and beats inspired by James Blake. Nora has worked with women’s rights organizations such as EMILY’S List and Planned Parenthood and founded Earhart, a music community uplifting female, trans, and gender nonconforming artists.

Kelleia

Kelleia is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles. Her meticulously produced melodies and rhythms are influenced by soul, R&B, electronic and world music, as well as a lifetime of dancing. She is also known to incorporate instruments like the harmonium and the Korean Buk into her music.
