Musco Center Presents
Double Edge Theatre
Leonora and Alejandro: La Maga y el Maestro
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 | 7:30 p.m.
An artist-run organization founded in 1982, the Double Edge ensemble creates original theatrical performances energized by imagination and innovative ideas. Based on a former dairy farm in rural Massachusetts, the company presents both indoor and outdoor spectacles, collaborating with visual and musical artists.
Leonora and Alejandro is a fantasia on the relationship between two remarkable artists: famed surrealist Leonora Carrington, a British-born Mexican painter and feminist, and the Chilean filmmaker/provocateur Alejandro Jodorowsky. It’s a performance steeped in the dreamlike worlds of magic realism and surrealism, illuminating the alchemical melding of these two great seers – and also their spiritual tug-of-war.
“Double Edge integrates dance, circus, masque, puppetry, multimedia and live music to create theatrical events that are vividly experiential.”
- The Boston Globe
