CoPA Theatre Presents The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare

This immortal story of deceit, prejudice, and justice is searingly portrayed in a new production, directed by Thomas F. Bradac and starring acclaimed Shakespearean actor Michael Nehring as Shylock—both members of the Chapman faculty.

Bassanio, needing money to court Portia, asks his close friend, Antonio, for a loan—and Antonio approaches the money-lender Shylock. Shylock agrees to lend the money, jesting that if Antonio does not pay it back in time, Shylock may cut a pound of flesh from him. Antonio consents—and so begins one of the Bard’s most brilliant plays.
